    Please help with your advice,
    My master bedroom is right above the downstairs toilet. The wall (Fame, Fortune, Love ) direction is right above the toilet. What can I do? Would a small round mirror on ceiling directly on top of the toilet help?

    Dear Michael,
    In traditional feng shui we do not work with mirrors as remedies but rather analyse the "unseen" energy in a home to see how it may affect the occupants health, wealth and relationships. First thing first.
    1. How are your relationships in general?
    2. How is your health?
    3. How do you sleep in this room?
    With Tradition feng shui there is no fame, fortune and love sector so to speak. However there are definitely energies that are much more beneficial and supportive for health and relationships than others. You cannot turn negative energy into positive however you can place remedies according to the five elements to help harmonise the energy. This should only be done once you know the flying star chart for your home.

Question

    I have just built my house and I am planning on putting a water feature in my front garden, the front door is facing the East and directly in front of my house is a park. I am unsure on which side of the house should I place my water feature. Hope you will be able to advice me on this.

    Dear Joe, You need to be extremely careful where you decide to place the water feature. The reason for this is wherever a water feature is placed it will activate the energies in that particular area. This is fantastic if the energies are positive however it could prove disastrous if they are negative and seeing as though there are really only two compass sectors I would recommend placing water features, I strongly advise you get a qualified consultant out to advise you of the best placement as this could have a definite effect on your ability to make money.     We're about to put our property on the market. As the staircase is almost opposite the front door I want to hang a crystal between the two points. Are you able to suggest where I might source a suitable crystal? Does cut glass achieve the same thing?
    I also want to plant out some boxes to put on the back verandah. What colours would be most auspicious. We are quite shaded too which is a problem when it comes to choosing plants.

    Dear Anne,
    Unfortunately a crystal won't do anything to slow down the Qi. Instead place a beautiful eye catching picture at the top of the staircase to help invite the Qi upstairs. Also it depends if the staircase is directly in front of the door, if it is to the side it will not pose too much of a problem and if it is more than 1.5metre from the door it should also be ok. In regards to plants go with something you love and makes you feel good. In shaded areas peace lilies are great plants as they have think leaves and only need watered every now and again - they are very hardy. Colours are great and can really change the mood of a place, so ensure you choose something that lifts your energy rather than drains it. Steer clear of really strong colours such as read if you don't know the energies you are dealing with. Alternatively find a consultant in your area as they would be able to advise you of the most appropriate colours.

    Just wondering - we have a motel business but our occupancy rate seems to have dropped. We were told to hang a wooden wind chime on the Western side of our business which we have done since we bought the place 2 years ago and seemed to be working fine but there has been a drop in business, phone calls etc - any suggestions to bring things back?

    Hi Sandra,
    A wooden wind chime would not be the cause of this. It is the energy coming through the main entrance that will determine if the feng shui supports your ability to make money. There are many different factors that come into play to ascertain what is where and how it may be affecting the occupants and the business. These include such things as a compass reading, the age of the motel, floor plans, owner's dates of birth etc. Does your entrance fall in the North West or the North East? If so this may be an issue for 2007. Also have there been any disturbances in the North West such as digging, construction or anything along those lines? For 2007 the North West should be kept as quiet as possible. In 2008 this energy moves to the South. To help harmonise the energy in the South I recommend a metal wind chime up until Feb 4th 2009.
